PROJECT DESCRIPTION

A significant residential renovation and interior project, the existing condition was a Grade A listed heritage house on a very large site. Molecule’s brief was to update and upgrade the home’s condition and capabilities while respecting its heritage quality and evident beauty.

The design challenge was to accommodate new garaging and a theatre without unbalancing the relationship between the house and its beautiful grounds; our design response was employing a hydraulic ramp to raise a portion of the tennis court, granting underground access to the Batcave-inspired car showroom. A noteworthy new stair links the basement with the heart of the house, providing the dovetail between the highly contrasted worlds of new and old.
